Women’s Cashmere Stole, Handcrafted Pashmina from India and Nepal

A cashmere stole is made from the fine undercoat of cashmere goats raised in different regions of the world. Pashmina, on the other hand, is traditionally made from particularly fine down collected mainly from the neck and chest area of certain goat breeds living in the Himalayan mountains. The main difference therefore lies in the breed of goat, its origin and the part of the fleece used.

A cashmere stole is generally softer, finer and warmer than conventional wool. When a textile label simply states wool, it usually refers to sheep’s wool. Cashmere, by contrast, comes from the very fine undercoat of goats. This fibre provides excellent thermal insulation while remaining lightweight and particularly pleasant against the skin.

A cashmere stole naturally provides warmth thanks to the insulating properties of cashmere. This warmth can be even greater depending on the quality and origin of the fibre: goats living in very cold, high-altitude regions develop particularly fine, soft and insulating down to protect themselves from extreme temperatures. The fineness of the fibre, its quality and the conditions in which the goats are raised therefore directly influence the softness and warmth of the cashmere.

A cashmere stole for women can be draped over the shoulders with a dress, wrapped around the neck with a coat or worn loose on either side of a jacket. Its width makes it easy to vary the way it is worn depending on the outfit and occasion.
