A cashmere stole is made from the undercoat of various breeds of cashmere goats raised in different regions of the world, collected from across the animal’s body. Pashmina, on the other hand, traditionally comes from the Changthangi goat, a specific breed native to the high plateaus of the Himalayas, and is made from the finest part of its undercoat, mainly from the neck and chest. The difference therefore lies in the breed and origin of the goat, its environment, and the part of the undercoat selected.
Himalayan cashmere comes from goat breeds particularly well adapted to the extreme conditions of the Himalayan mountains. Altitude plays an essential role: the higher the goats live, the finer, denser and more insulating their undercoat becomes to withstand the intense cold. At altitudes of up to 4,000 metres, freezing temperatures, arid terrain and mineral-rich soils create a unique environment. Combined with the specific characteristics of these goat breeds, these conditions promote the development of a naturally soft, light and warm undercoat, giving Himalayan cashmere its exceptional reputation.
A women’s cashmere stole can be worn in different ways depending on the outfit and occasion. Draped over the shoulders, it elegantly complements a dress or formal outfit while providing warmth. For everyday wear, it can be wrapped around the neck like a scarf, especially with a coat, or worn loosely over a light jacket. Its softness and lightness make it easy to vary your style while enjoying the warmth and comfort of cashmere.
