pashmina

100% cashmere pashmina

Pashmina is an exceptionally fine material, prized for its softness, warmth and lightness. Our 100% cashmere pashminas are available in natural, colourful and two-tone designs, including pieces made using the traditional Do Rukha technique. Made from the winter undercoat of Himalayan goats, they are then handcrafted using traditional expertise.

Each 100% cashmere pashmina is distinguished by the fineness of its fibres, its natural softness and its ability to provide remarkable warmth while remaining exceptionally lightweight. It is an ideal accessory for everyday wear as well as elegant occasions.

The price of a 100% cashmere pashmina varies according to the quality of the fibre, the weaving time and the weight of each piece.

Hand weaving on traditional looms

Each 100% cashmere pashmina in our collection is an exceptional piece, handwoven on traditional looms characteristic of the Kashmir region. This craftsmanship requires immense patience: depending on the complexity of the design, a single piece can take from one to several days to weave. This ancestral technique creates a suppleness and distinctive character that no machine can reproduce.

Himalayan goats: the origin of 100% cashmere pashmina

The secret of a genuine 100% cashmere pashmina lies in the extreme environment in which the goats live. On the arid, mineral-rich high plateaus of the Himalayas, where herds can reach altitudes of up to 4,000 metres, the goats develop an exceptionally fine and silky undercoat to protect themselves from the intense cold. This precious fibre, carefully collected, gives pashmina its legendary softness and remarkable lightness.

100% pashmina: how to recognize it

It is often said that a 100% pashmina should be fine enough to pass through a ring. While this may be true for our finest traditional weaves, the test does not apply to every exceptional piece. A more densely woven shawl, a two-tone design or a hand-embroidered pashmina may not pass through a ring because of the thickness of the weave or the raised embroidery threads.

The true hallmarks of a 100% pashmina are the suppleness of its fibres and the immediate warmth it provides to the touch. Each piece also features a delicate weave that may be slightly irregular, a distinctive sign of traditional loom weaving and a fine natural material that has not been industrially standardized.
