How to Wash and Care for a Pashmina

Nepalese artisans – pashmina care

Tips for washing and caring for a pashmina
Take care of your pashmina with these simple but essential care tips. By following these recommendations, you will preserve its softness, suppleness and quality while extending its lifespan.
Hand washing (recommended)
Use cold or lukewarm water (between 10°C and 30°C maximum).
Prefer a natural soap or baby shampoo.
Do not rub or wring the fabric. Rinse thoroughly, then gently press out the water by hand.
Do not use fabric softener.
Machine washing (with care)
Choose a “wool” cycle at a maximum of 30°C.
Place the stole in a protective laundry bag.
Use a mild soap or baby shampoo, without fabric softener.
Do not exceed 600 rpm for the spin cycle.
Drying and ironing
Dry flat, away from direct sunlight.
Iron at a medium temperature using the “wool” setting.
For embroidered pieces, always iron on the reverse side.
❌ Never tumble dry.
Tip
Add 3 drops of white vinegar during the first wash only for stoles dyed with natural (plant-based) dyes, to help fix the colours.
